The Qualifications

Discover Award (Ages 5+)
This is the start of the Arts Award adventure and the launchpad to the explore, bronze and silver awards. It takes children and young people on an artistic journey as they explore the arts all around them, investigate different art forms, research an artist, and then share their discoveries with others. The Discover award boosts children's creativity, curiosity, confidence and communication skills.
Estimated hours to complete = 20

Explorer Award
(Ages 6+)
Entry Level Award in the Arts
The Explore Arts Award is a fun and inspiring creative journey designed to build confidence, curiosity, and artistic skills. Through three exciting projects, children will experiment with a variety of art forms, materials, and techniques while discovering artists who inspire them.
Children will learn how to reflect on and celebrate their work, gain new creative skills, and grow in confidence as young artists.
The Explore Arts Award is also an opportunity for children to achieve a recognised qualification while enjoying the creative process.
Estimated hours for qualification = 35

Bronze Award
(Ages 11-13)
Level 1 Award in the Arts
A hands-on course exploring drawing, painting, mixed media, and introductory photography while completing the Bronze Arts Award.
During the first part of the course, students will explore different art forms and artists, with guest creatives visiting the studio throughout the programme to demonstrate techniques and share their work.
Students will then develop their own final project, which could include drawing, digital art, stop-motion animation, photography, mixed media, or another creative discipline of their choice.
Estimated hours for qualification = 60

Silver Award
(Ages 13-16)
Level 2 Award in the Arts
(Successful completion of Bronze is not required to join.)
A more advanced course focused on photography, experimental photographic practice - using chemicals, portfolio development, creative exploration, and planning a personal exhibition.
The Silver Arts Award helps students build a high-quality creative portfolio, which can be used to support applications for further education and creative college courses. This award gives young people the chance to take on an artistic challenge and a leadership role too.
Estimated hours for qualification = 95
